Art of The Dragon

In celebration of the lunar year/Chinese New Year I created my own Year of The Dragon painting. It was fun and refreshing to do something I am not used to doing.

I was inspired by the Dragon Dance. In northern China the large Dragon Puppets are painted with bright neon colors to be seen in the darker weather. I thought it would be cool to work with neon paint. It would also have a glow in the dark effect.

Neon paint turned out to be a big challenge. It was very translucent so I had to do multiple layers. 6 layers in some areas. It became a labor of love but I’m glad how it turned out.

The show at El Paso’s Finest was awesome with so many different interpretations of the dragon. It was a special show with a great build up. Hope you like it. Available in the shop.
